I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything on this page or my Sexwannie blog. But life isn’t always easy.

There are important things that get in the way of writing a blog. Life gets in the way. And so does death.

My husband and I have been though so much in a very short period of time.

On May 5th 2015 we lost my father in law to heart disease. Then a week later on May 12th my Mom lost her battle with Cancer.

That’s when I lost my way. My Mom was my heart, and my biggest fan.

I still cannot believe she’s gone.

I go to call her and then reality kicks in. She’s not here.

I look for signs that she told me she would send. I see them, I know she’s watching over me.

I just want her here.

It was Mom who pushed me to write and publish my first novel.

Know  I don’t know how I’m supposed to finish my second without her here.

When I started my blogs it was my Mama who would say “You’re on your way little girl.”

Its had not having her here pushing me to write. She had been telling me my entire life I needed to keep writing. .

So now it’s been about six weeks since she’s gone and I’m so lost without her.

We have moved out of Jersey. Packed up everything we thought we might use. And staying with someone who I thought was family.

If we could move again we would be out of here tonight.

“Don’t tell my Mom on her death bed that you will take care of me, and then once I give up everything I’ve ever known turn your back on me”.

I don’t eat, I don’t sleep, and someone keeps asking me; “Why are you crying?”

They say moving and losing a loved one are the most stressful things in life.

Well we’ve gone through both in a very short period of time. To say I’m stressed to the max would be an understatement.

I haven’t been able to write a word till today.

I know if she was still here she would be telling me to get on with it. “Live your life Little girl, do it for me”.

It’s not that easy to resume your life when someone so special and close in your life dies.

The only reason I’m writing this now is because my hubby shamed me into it. “What would your mom think Annie?” Well I’m pretty sure she would understand that I’m hurting. She would also tell me that life doesn’t stand still while you’re grieving.

My Mom was a very smart woman.

She is missed every minute of every day.

I know this post may not be much to most of you. But it’s a huge step forward for me.

I want to thank you all for sticking by me while I get my life in order. I really do miss interacting with all of you.

That’s it for now. Make sure you let your parents and loved one’s know how much you love them.

We are only put on this earth for a very short time. It’s so important to let those we love know how we feel. I’m so glad there were no words left unspoken.

Life really sucks sometimes. And sometimes we have no choice but to move forward. Even if it’s one day or minute at a time..

Hugs to all of you!!!

Update: My Spine is Doing Fine.

Just trying to re-blog to this page to catch some of you up on what’s been going on in my life..

SEX w/ Annie

Update: After twelve days, one spinal surgery, and two horrific setbacks, I’m really doing well. The immense pressure that once plagued my back is mostly gone.

That in itself makes the choice of having this minimally invasive spinal surgery a complete success.
With the pain levels dropping already I have no doubts that my life can and will only get better.

I’m so thankful I didn’t listen to the Nay-Sayers who told me that the T-lift surgery, bone graft with fusion couldn’t be done on my back, Or that I would only get worse.

All I know is how I feel today. Twelve days post-op. And that’s pretty damn good.  If I didn’t have this surgery I would have wondered my entire life. Also the stenosis which ew bone spurs as they call them would have closed my spinal canal completely and I would have lost the use of both…

Use It or Lose It

DAILY PROMPT

Use It or Lose It

Write about anything you’d like, but make sure the post includes this sentence:

“I thought we’d never come back from that one.”

Whenever I hear the phrase use it or lose it I think of sex.

I can’t help it, that’s just how my brain works. Think about it this way; the more we have sex the more we think about sex and the more we think about sex the more want sex.

If we slack off or lose that loving feeling. We must think, use it or lose it.

So I started to think; how long was the longest dry spell between sexual encounters? As far as I can remember it had to be when I had my first back surgery. That was in nineteen eighty-nine.

I was in such a bad way. That surgery almost killed me. I remember screaming as a spasm grabbed hold of me.  I wasn’t able to walk on my own for six months. Now you would think I wasn’t thinking about sex. But I was thinking about sex. I mean we had only been married for three years.

I was thinking this is the longest we’ve ever gone without it.

Will my husband wait for me?

Will he leave me?

Does he love me enough to wait?

Will I ever want sex again?

Will my body keep failing me or will I walk again?

Why did this happen to me?

And am I ever going to get back to some kind of normal?

Yes I was feeling all sorts of sorry for myself at that time. And I was a mess if you really want to know the truth. I also had to take steroids.  I had what they call moon face. It’s not a very attractive look, especially for a twenty-nine year old woman. Moon face at any age can put you over the edge, but in your twenties it’s that much worse.

Being on steroids I also gained about thirty pounds.  And being only four-foot ten inches tall I wasn’t feeling my sexy side if you know what I mean. Hell I couldn’t even find my sexy side.

So here I was not able to walk on my own, in excruciating pain, with a body and face as big as the moon. I remember feeling like a huge beach ball with a face.

It was hard to look in the mirror each day, and when I did I cried. So I was thinking: how could my husband look at me and still want sex?

And even though sex at that time was physically impossible. I couldn’t put my mind around him still wanting me in that way.  But he did. And somehow he would make me forget what I looked like. This amazing man would tell me I was beautiful and that he loved me each and every day. He also reassured me that he wasn’t going anywhere.

It was this man who got me through one of the hardest times in my life.

All I had to do was hear his voice and I would feel a calm come over me.  Yes, It was his voice that would get me through some of my toughest days.

Fast forward through a year of the hardest physical and then aquatic therapy and I was finally able to get half of my strength back. I got rid of the walker and steroids. My face went back to normal. Sure I still had about twenty pounds to lose but I was starting to feel like myself.

Through all this I realized that we did have that unconditional love thing going for us. So I promised to never doubt his love again.

I know that I am one of the luckiest women in the world. I may have to live with chronic back pain for the rest of my life but I had made it back from a failed open lumbar back Laminectomy. Yes I was left with chronic pain for the rest of my life.

And I found out was that I have a husband who will always be there for me no matter what.  And I realized if he could stand by my side through a year of hell without physical sex 😉 than I knew without a doubt that we could make it back from anything.

Yes there were times when  “I thought we’d  never come back from that one.”  But we did.

Oh and the sex? Well our sex life just keeps getting better. It turns out that we never lost that connection. And that’s why I always say: “Where there’s a will there’s definitely a way.” With sex it doesn’t have to be physical. sex is a state of mind. And you either use it or lose it!

Double Double Toil and Trouble

My sister called and asked me to find some sayings to put on tombstones for the haunted Halloween trail in Milltown N.J.. They have it every year and since my nephews are a part of this town tradition of course I went searching for something she could use.

I have heard the saying Double double toil and trouble many times over the years. But I always thought that saying was from the Wizard of Oz. Turns out it’s Shakespeare, Macbeth. So I thought I would post this witches scene from Macbeth. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Facsimile of the first page ofMacbeth from the First Folio, published in 1623

220px-FirstFolioMacbeth

Written between 1611-12

First performed in 1623.

Macbeth tells of a man who is deceived by himself and his wife. The play opens with thunder and lightning and the appearance of three witches–supernatural beings. Due to the fact that this is the beginning of the play, the opening Act, it foreshadows the central theme of the play–evil.–Submitted by Shanika

Basically, there are three witches who predict Macbeth’s future; it then plays on his mind when the first prediction comes true–he becomes Thane of Cawdor. Then he would go on to be king. He writes and tells his wife and they were both really excited. When Macbeth gets back to his castle, he and his wife decide that the only way he can become king is if they kill King Duncan. With power gone to his head, Macbeth slowly starts to ‘lose the plot’, as does Lady Macbeth.–Submitted by Anonymous

William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

from Macbeth

A dark Cave. In the middle, a Caldron boiling. Thunder.

Enter the three Witches.

1 WITCH.  Thrice the brinded cat hath mew’d.
2 WITCH.  Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin’d.
3 WITCH.  Harpier cries:—’tis time! ’tis time!
1 WITCH.  Round about the caldron go;
In the poison’d entrails throw.—
Toad, that under cold stone,
Days and nights has thirty-one;
Swelter’d venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot!
ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH.  Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
3 WITCH.  Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf;
Witches’ mummy; maw and gulf
Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark;
Root of hemlock digg’d i the dark;
Liver of blaspheming Jew;
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse;
Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips;
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,—
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron,
For the ingrediants of our caldron.
ALL.  Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
2 WITCH.  Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

brinded – having obscure dark streaks or flecks on gray
gulf – the throat
drab – prostitute
chaudron – entrails

The above appears at the beginning of Act IV, Scene 1 as found in:

  • Shakespeare, William. The Globe Illustrated Shakespeare: The Complete Works Annotated. Howard Staunton ed. New York: Gramercy Books, 1993.

Summary: Act 1, scene 3

On the heath near the battlefield, thunder rolls and the three witches appear. One says that she has just come from “[k]illing swine” and another describes the revenge she has planned upon a sailor whose wife refused to share her chestnuts. Suddenly a drum beats, and the third witch cries that Macbeth is coming. Macbeth and Banquo, on their way to the king’s court at Forres, come upon the witches and shrink in horror at the sight of the old women. Banquo asks whether they are mortal, noting that they don’t seem to be “inhabitants o’ th’ earth” (1.3.39). He also wonders whether they are really women, since they seem to have beards like men. The witches hail Macbeth as thane of Glamis (his original title) and as thane of Cawdor. Macbeth is baffled by this second title, as he has not yet heard of King Duncan’s decision. The witches also declare that Macbeth will be king one day. Stunned and intrigued, Macbeth presses the witches for more information, but they have turned their attention to Banquo, speaking in yet more riddles. They call Banquo “lesser than Macbeth, and greater,” and “not so happy, yet much happier”; then they tell him that he will never be king but that his children will sit upon the throne (1.3.63–65). Macbeth implores the witches to explain what they meant by calling him thane of Cawdor, but they vanish into thin air.

In disbelief, Macbeth and Banquo discuss the strange encounter. Macbeth fixates on the details of the prophecy. “Your children shall be kings,” he says to his friend, to which Banquo responds: “You shall be king” (1.3.84). Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Ross and Angus, who have come to convey them to the king. Ross tells Macbeth that the king has made him thane of Cawdor, as the former thane is to be executed for treason. Macbeth, amazed that the witches’ prophecy has come true, asks Banquo if he hopes his children will be kings. Banquo replies that devils often tell half-truths in order to “win us to our harm” (1.3.121). Macbeth ignores his companions and speaks to himself, ruminating upon the possibility that he might one day be king. He wonders whether the reign will simply fall to him or whether he will have to perform a dark deed in order to gain the crown. At last he shakes himself from his reverie and the group departs for Forres. As they leave, Macbeth whispers to Banquo that, at a later time, he would like to speak to him privately about what has transpired.

DAILY PROMPT

Autumn Leaves

Changing colors, dropping temperatures, pumpkin spice lattes: do these mainstays of Fall fill your heart with warmth — or with dread?

As the seasons change from summer to fall I start to feel sad. Yes you could even call it dread.

It’s how I feel every year while watching my flower garden wither and then die.

Sure the leaves on the trees may be beautiful vibrant colors that bring an instant wow to your mind!

But those colors and that moment don’t last for very long.

As Soon as the temperature drops just a little further those once vibrant leaves will wither. They’ll turn brown and fall to the ground and the tree’s will all be bare.

That’s when we’ll hear sounds of rakes scraping the ground along with blowers all through out the town.

Winter will be here before we know it. That cold icy wind, snow, and rain.

I can feel my body aching for the warmth of spring and summer already.

No this time of year all I can think about is getting through these dreary seasons.

There’s less sunlight through out the day as the season’s change in Jersey. But this will be my last year to dream about the crocus that come up through the ground in spring. No I won’t be yearning for the sight of cherry blossom’s and dogwoods in full bloom.

So you can have your pumpkin spice, your ciders and your pie. The holidays may be the only bright light this time of year.

As I watch my last fall and winter season I am only thinking of the move. The drive down route ninety five past the Carolina’s and Georgia too.

Yes we are moving too the sunshine state where it’s summer all year long.

No cold temps that send chills clear through to the bone. No season’s to change just full days of sunshine and warmth.

On this fall day as I watch the leaves wither and die I’m only thinking of what it’ll be like in Florida the same time next year.

I know I won’t have to worry about the bitter cold cause it’s never coming as I’ll sit and watch the palm trees blow in the warm south west wind each day.

And even in November I’ll be able to drink my morning coffee outside in shorts and tee’s with my sexy bare manicured feet.  I’ll be so content just listening to the sounds of those mockingbirds sing.

I close my eyes and I can feel the warm sun on my tan face.

Winters will be sweet as we can still stroll down to the beach hand in hand.

We’ll watch as Siesta Key gives her spectacular nightly show. And I won’t be dreaming of the place I was born and raised. Cause this Jersey girl will be content in the place she’s dreamed of being since her honeymoon.

Yea soon I’ll be on my way. No more winter coats, no more wool hats and gloves. And won’t it be great to have my body naturally tan all year round.

No I don’t need to see those gold or orange leaves fall to the ground each year. And I sure won’t miss those pesky itchy balls that cover the cold ground too.

I smile as I think of sending pictures home to family and friends this time next year. They’ll be of us walking on that powdered sand hand in hand on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years eve too.

The only thing this Jersey girl will miss from her garden state is the bagels from The Bagel Bin.

But you can bet your sweet bippy before I leave I’ll find a way to get those scrumptious bagels delivered to the sunshine state.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

DAILY PROMPT

The Mirror Crack’d

You wake up one morning to a world without mirrors. How does your life — from your everyday routines to your perception of yourself — change?

(Thanks for suggesting this thought-provoking prompt, Chocolate Eyes!)

Without mirrors we might see more clearly the ugly side of people.  Yes, there would be a lot of out of sorts, crazy looking people everywhere. But then everyone would look that way.

But I have a feeling for the right price mirrors could be had. So of course the rich would have mirrors. And this would cause friction between the haves and the have-nots.

I can see it now the haves with their noses in the air Looking just as perfect as perfect can be.  And the have-nots doing their best to look somewhat normal by using a widow panes to get a glimpse of their reflection.

A reflection can be seen many ways. Maybe it’s in the way you treat others that are less fortunate. If we all looked a little disheveled everyday then maybe people could lighten up just a little.

There might even be more laughter as people dress in colors that don’t match. And we would have to rely on the kindness of others to let us know when things like hair dye was needed.

It would be a strange world without mirrors. And maybe it’s a good thing we never have to worry about it.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it..

So with all the preparation for the first party I decided to plan an party for all the other people I would love to meet in person. All those people that I talk to almost everyday. Some of these people I’ve talked to for years.

There’s my girls from Living despite pain group. We started this group a few years ago and we have five woman. Dar is the Canuck, Kaye is the English woman whose living in S. Korea. My English rose Alana along with Karen both from England of course. , And the baby Roisin from Ireland.  Sadly Aisling who was our koala just passed away. So for you Aisling Willow Cahill I say;  Merry meet, Merry part, and merry meet again.  I have no doubt that Ash as we called her will show up in some fashion.

Now for the rest. The Aussie Elizabeth will no doubt fly in for this festive party. And I’m sure she will bring some of that amazing coffee with her. I have no doubt DG will fly in from Arizona. Did I mention she’s an author whose also a Canuck who spends her winters state side. DG is the reason I started this party as she so wanted to crash the one in NYC, Lol.

My best friends Sherry and Deb will already be in Florida and they are always up for another party. I’m sure Genie will be there with Deb and of course she’s invited.

Now for the authors, LaRae is our Funny Crazy lady. Donalie is the mamma. Tre is one woman who needs some sunshine and party on the beach. Then there’s Marie, Jas, Janie, Anne, Regina, Augusta, Jane, Wendy, Vivi, CF, And Erin. Now I know for sure there are many others. But these are the women who are not afraid to talk about sex. Their not afraid to let their hair down. Oh and they can take a joke.

I do believe that meeting this group of amazing women face to face and putting them all together would enrich all our lives.  And I can’t wait to see what everyone will be wearing. Don’t forget to bring your sweaters as it just might get cool down by the water as the sun goes down.

This party is on Siesta Key beach in Florida. There’s a long table with white linen table clothes and china. Blue and yellow flowers in clear vases along with pink bougainvillea  are strewn about the table. White votive’s and large glass jars filled with sand each with one white large candle.  There’s even sea shells some holding the place cards in front of each place setting.

Close enough..

Close enough..

18d70ddfc6cab83b67d5381b376d10a7

Tinted blue Mason jars are the glasses I choose for this party.This way it doesn’t matter if you’re drinking from the huge pitchers of water with lemon slices or your favorite beverage of choice.  Oh and this is a BYOB dinner party. I will be sure to have a few bottle of Patron and a few bottles of Kinky pink along with assorted sodas, pineapple and orange juice, a cooler full of ice and two blenders for anyone who wants a margarita or wants to come up with a specialty drink for my party.

Ahh the food will be Prosciutto & mozzarella on brushetta. Grilled chicken with Italian seasoning, Tomato salad with fresh sharp Italian cheese and black olives a balsamic and olive oil dressing makes this perfect. Fresh green beans and asparagus seared to perfection with garlic and olive oil. And for dessert assorted pastries.

And as the sun goes down and we’ve all eaten we will sit around the fire pit and this is when the tequila comes out. Shots for everyone, even those who don’t drink would have at least one. We would need some entertainment so maybe this is where we let the guys come in. There always good for a few laughs. And who else is going to man the embers as we try and make smores.

Before the night is over I have one more surprise. I hand everyone a Chinese lantern. We would all make a wish then light and let them float out above the sea.

All in all it will be a great party with good food, and great friends and a lot of laughter. If you would like to come to this party just add your name in the comments and tell me what you think you can add to this party.

If I could really put this party together and one day I will I would love to see the pictures that will be taken that day and night. What a wonderful day it would be..

We always have room for interesting fun people who love to laugh. You need to have an open mind and a sexy side. Well DG that’s the party. Just pick out your beach outfit. Sandals are optional as we will have our feet in the sand that feels like baby powder. If I missed something or you have something to add feel free.

That’s my beach party and I’m sticking to it..Lol.. 🙂

The Ultimate Dinner Party

DAILY PROMPT

Seat Guru

You get to plan a dinner party for 4-8 of your favorite writers/artists/musicians/other notable figures, whether dead or alive. Who do you seat next to whom in order to inspire the most fun evening?

It’s funny that this Daily Prompt came up. I have what I call the lunch table. I’ve always pictured a huge round table. It takes place at Carmines in NYC. And the people I would invite have changed over the years. But I do have a few that are always a constant. My husband Mike, he’s my best friend and how could I possibly go to a lunch like this without my best friend.

My Mom is going with me to meet all these interesting people. She can hold a conversation with anyone. And she would absolutely love this. Mom gets to sit next to whomever she wants. This is not a formal luncheon it’s a meal with friends.

Whoopie Goldberg is one woman that I have always admired and would love to meet. She’s honest, funny and she knows everyone.

Carole King is my all time favorite singer. Her Tapestry album has been the one constant in my CD collection. Anyone who can write lyrics like that is Ok in my book.

Now John Stewart is the guy who’s going to bring topics. He’s also the guy that will get the conversation going and there will never be any of that awkward silence.

Elton John, I love him. I just have a feeling he would wind up being the life of the party.

Sandra Bullock seems to be a very down to earth woman.  How much fun would it be if she just happened to bring Melissa McCarthy. Now that would be when my Mom would tell me, “Close your mouth Annie,” Lol..

Robin Williams is next on the list. I’ve often thought that he might take over and that no one else would be able to get a word in.  But then I think he might enjoy letting others lead for a change. And can you just imagine the laughter after a few drinks.

Meryle Streep, She’s from Jersey and to me that means she’s real. So why not have her at my luncheon. And she just might come.

Joan Cusack is one woman who loves to laugh. She’s a little quirky and to me these are the best people to have fun with. I’m a little quirky too and so Joan makes the cut.

And the last person at my luncheon would be Steve Madden. Yup the same Steve Madden that makes shoes. I’ve read his story and he seems like a down to earth kind of guy. He’s from Long Island and hey he might even bring us all goodie bags.

Like I said my table changes from time to time. I have had Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and Jason Statham at my table if for nothing else they would be fun to look at.

Now I know this is make believe. But if this was actually about to happen who do you think would call or text last minute to say they weren’t coming. Of course they would apologize. And maybe even say they would make it up to me. But I’m a realist. And I wouldn’t be holding my breath.

The fact is not one person on this list besides my husband and Mom would actually show up to have lunch with me at Carmines in NYC. But that’s Ok. Because sitting with the two people who love me the most and eating amazing Italian food would really be all I need.

In Fact screw all these people strangers that are put on pedestals. I’m making a new list.

Mike, Mom, Michael & Loring, Jennifer & Harry, Tammy & Tom, Steven & Michael, Ralph & Irene,  Along with all my nieces and nephews is all I could ever want to have sitting around a table breaking bread with me. If I could add a couple other people I would add my two besties, Sherry, Deb and Mike.

You see when it comes down to it we all just want to be with the people who love us for who we are. If any of those people on that fictitious list actually said yes to my invite I would be a nervous wreck. And who wants odjetta before you eat one bite.

Well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it..

That's me at my nieces wedding.
That’s me at my nieces wedding.

I want to thank D.G. Kaye Gies or as I call her DG for inviting me to be part of this writing process blog tour! The idea of this blog tour is to let you know a little bit of the why and how of my writing process, and to introduce you to some new writers you might not be familiar with yet.

D.G. and I found each other on internet. She sent me a message from one author to another.  We started following each others blogs and Facebook pages and wouldn’t you know we have become fast friends. We have so much in common and I just love her outlook on life. And she gets my sense of humor.

DG is a strong woman who writes about women’s issues and life in general. . Every time I see a post that she’s left on my one of my pages I can’t help but smile. She has an aura about her even through the internet.

D.G. Kaye’s newest book is Meno What?  Let me tell you that this beautiful woman has a way with words. And she will make you laugh as she describes what it’s like to go through menopause. D.G. writes about trying to keep her sanity while her hormones are raging. There’s memory loss, hot flashes, dry spells, and the hair loss.  She writes all this and so much more. All of it filled with lot’s of love and even more laughter.

D.G. tells you how to take life as it comes and she pulls no punches. She’s a Canuck from Canada that writes from the heart. She’s also a firm believer as I am that life is short and we need to live it the best way we can. If you know someone who’s just had a hysterectomy or is heading to menopause Buy them this book. Heck I think every woman needs a copy..

I hope you find some new authors to follow while this tour is going on.  I thank you for stopping by. Here are my answers to the questions on the Author’s Writing Process Blog Tour;.

1) What are you working on?

Currently I’m working on book number two in the Second Chances series. So far it’s called Mike Sloan’s Story. But that can change as I’ve had a few titles. But I keep coming back to Mike Sloan. I also write my Sex w/Annie blog on WordPress.

This is where I give sexy, fun and witty relationship advice.  No I’m not a sex therapist with a PhD but I’ve been happily married to one man for almost thirty years. I believe their are two keys to every successful relationships. The first is communication, and the second is keeping your sex lives exciting and new.

2) How does your work differ from others of its genre?

Every writer sees the world in a different way. We’ve all grown up with the basic morals of right and wrong. We all have our own way of seeing things. I’m no different from others writers in the sense that I see stories all around me. Characters I’ve met in my own life I tend to put in my stories in one form or another.

The difference is mine are kinky. I also like to write books that are long enough to take on a weekend trip. You can’t finish one of my books while sitting in the doctors office.

We are all unique in our own way of thinking. And any writer that actually finishes a book and gets it published deserves a pat on the back.

I also do what I can to promote as many authors as I can. Especially indies. Indies don’t have the big name publishing house behind them. We are totally independent and so I tweet on twitter and share as often as I can, where ever I can.  I even post other authors books on my own Annie Edmonds author Facebook page.

3) Why do you write what you do?

I picked erotic romance as my genre after asking all the women around me and their friends what they were reading. The consensus was erotic romance. After doing some research I found that there’s a whole other world of sex going on in the world. And people love to read about it.

With erotic romance and BDSM I like to be as real as I can get. This is a fascinating genre. There’s only one problem, that is if you can call it a problem. It tends to get really hot at my writing station if you know what I mean.

Try to imagine putting a sexy hot story all together. As with any genre it takes a lot of concentration and dedication on the writers part.

But with erotic romance your dealing with kinky sex. And your senses as well as your body tends to wake up with all that sex roaming around and through your mind.

In other words your body does have a mind of it’s own. And it’s fun to write about this so called taboo subject. And that’s why I write erotic romance.

4) How does your writing process work?

I write at my dining room table. And since I live in a seven hundred square foot home, the dining room is actually in the living room/kitchen.

You might say it’s the hub of my very humble abode. There’s all kinds of life going on around me. And somehow I block it all out. Sure I would like my own quiet space one day. But then again It’s kind of nice being out in the open where everyone can see me. This way it might take me a little longer to write, but at least I’m not missing anything.

I have my computer, pads, pens, post it’s and my stainless steel Thermos coffee cup. The table’s a little messy but I know just where everything is.
I do write every day. I only wish I was disciplined enough to push all the other work aside and just work on my book each day.

When I’m in writing mode I try to get as much of the story out of my head and into the computer as I possibly can in one sitting.  I can usually write between a thousand to three thousand words over a six to eight hour period. Once I start I don’t stop till my eyes are closing and I start making mistakes.

With Sammy’s story I wrote one hundred and ninety thousand words, which translates into four hundred and thirty seven pages in seven months.  A month later I had it published. With the second book things are different.

I don’t think readers realize that independent authors have to do their own promotion’s. We don’t have publicist. In fact we are the writers, proof readers, publishers, and the publicist. Indie’s have to promote their own books or no one will know they exists.

Then there’s all the an e-mails to open. I try and check them daily. Or at least every other day. Then there’s my three blogs to keep currant. And of course I have writing prompts to do. It’s a lot of work. But I love doing it.
Maybe after I get book two out of the way I’ll find a way to delegate my time more efficiently. For now I’m doing the best I can.

Available on Amazon, B&n, ibooks, Smashwords and kobo.

Now this is where I’m supposed to just pass the torch for the next authors in the writers process blog tour to answer the same questions. But that’s not what’s going to happen.

The authors in my circle have already answered these questions.

So they asked me to come up with a new tour with new questions.

The consensus was for me to answer the questions first. Then pass the torch on to the next. So here’s the next four questions on the new tour that’s called;

About the Authors Blog Tour.

1) If you were beginning your writing career today what would you do differently?

If I had just finished with my first book I would without a doubt have already had beta readers. I’m working on getting Beta readers now for my second book.

Yes I read about getting beta readers before, during and even after I wrote my first book. But I guess I was scared to ask. Well I’m not anymore. This author is going to get all the help she can get. And that’s one of the first things I would do if I was just starting out.

2) What’s the one thing about you that might surprise the reader?

Maybe that I’m quiet when I first meet people. I like to scope the situation out first. Get a feel of the room so to speak. My first impressions are usually right on target.

If I don’t get a good vibe from someone I’m usually right about that person. And I can also tell who has a good heart.

I never doubt My first instincts. And that’s something that might surprise people. I may be an out spoken girl from Jersey but I do have my moments.

3) Tell us a little about your main character in your latest book.

The main character in my book Second Chances Sammy’ story is loosely based on myself. Samantha Raine is a thirty two year old Jersey girl whose been recently widowed. She’s been living in a bubble since her husband passed away in a motor cycle accident.
It’s taken her two years to finally stop beating herself up for not leaving her mentally abusive husband when she had the chance.

She’s a free spirit, who wants to live her life without boundaries. But she’s also cautious. That is until finds the kink room in her best friends Florida home.

It’s then that she realizes that there is so much she’s missed in the last ten years. She finds it strange that the kink room turns her on. And she’s willing to take that leap of faith,  but only if and when she finds the right man to teach her about BDSM and the world of kink.

And even though Sammy’s strong, she’s also the kind of woman that needs a man to hold her at night to feel secure.

Sammy is not a woman that needs designer clothes to be happy. And she’s not impressed by a man with money. What does impress Sammy is a confident man. One that will love a woman for who she is. A man that doesn’t want to hold a woman back from life. She’s had that, and she vows to never go down that road again.

In a nut shell Sammy is looking for her second chance at life and love. And she finds out true love does exists.

4) What are some of your favorites; Color, Food, Place?

Favorite Color; Turquoise/blue.

Favorite Food; Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food and being with my family and friends. I also love breakfast for dinner.

Favorite place; That’s easy, The beach, every one knows I love the beach. It’s no secret that if I could live my life listening to the water, waves, and seagulls, that I would. I love the sand and I’m in love with Siesta key beach in Florida. The sand is like baby powder. It’s never hot. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face and a warm feeling to my heart.

 I hope you all enjoy meeting the authors on the About the Authors Blog Tour. Make sure you look for Augusta and Jaro’s posts next Monday August 11th.

I met Augusta Fern and Jaro Berce on MARSocial.com.  We were all in a crazy writing contest that lasted four months. As you can imagine being in an altruistic writing contest you get to know the other participants pretty well. Working together and for each other you get to see what people are made of. And these two people that never disappointed when it came time to promoting others.

As you can see by their book covers, both of these authors write in two very different genre’s. What they do have in common is that they are both amazing parents that adore their children.

Augusta and Jaro are two people that I would always want on my side. They are loyal to their friends and co-authors. And they are also good, honest, and caring people.

Augusta lives here in America and Jaro lives on the side of the world in Slovenia. This is what I love about writing and the internet. Where else could you meet authors from all over the world?

I hand the About Author’s Blog Tour over to their very capable hands.. Enjoy!

August Fern’s latest book is Babet’s Epiphany.

Babet's Epiphany is Augusta Fern's second book in the Mort'e series.

Babet’s Epiphany is Augusta Fern’s second book in the Mort’e series.

Returned pen to page after losing my job during the economic downturn. My love and adoration for the pale immortals inspired me to finish the novel I had begun so long ago.

The one novel spawned an entire series, Morte’.

Revelations of Cian: For nearly two thousand years Scottish warrior, Cian, has endured a life of immortality; falling through European history, leaving his deadly mark.

After tiring of war and settling in New Orleans, post World War two; he mindlessly blocks his gifts while bounty hunting for the vampire Monarchy.

In the modern age, Cian finally discovers the mate he realizes makes him want to experience humanity again but the unnatural attraction he has to her is unsettling.

She and her children are pulled into his world, but little does he know, they are no strangers. New Orleans’ self proclaimed vampire queen, Madliene, has plans of her own for Cian.

However, his new found obsession hinders his allegiance to her majesty and her court. A deeply rooted conflict in the Big Easy brings elements of his past returning to aid him.

However, in a dark time of deceit, his inability to trust has him questioning their motives…including his own.

Babet’s Epiphany: For the six months Cian has been in Europe Babet’s life has calmed. If you can call her life calm.

With her father’s return to New Orleans and his devoted coven rectifying the city from Madliene’s rule, human and vampire relations have vastly improved.

Babet’s life is slowly becoming what it used to be, but it isn’t what she wants. When her father presents her with an artistic opportunity in the city she is desperate to return to, Babet leaves New Orleans but soon discovers being so far from home is a revelation unto herself. And who she is destined to be. The epiphanies of her life ultimately lead her back to what she wants most.

Jaro Berce’s book is Leadership by Virtue.

f12a44e50973024ee055a44cb66b2758Leadership by Virtue; The story is showing from a first-person perspective the internal growing up of a leadership process based on non-Western approach.

The main character, brought up in Europe and therefore used to Western “cultural background noise’ although practicing Chinese martial arts, has to learn and understand the differences brought by Far East principles if he wants to grasp leadership from a different angle On the whole, a Western leadership is thought and understood as an external process of a person that influences others.

Most of leadership and management books that deal with leadership and managers describe what and how to do it to be more efficient and successful.

They describe tools to use to do it. This is called an external process. Outward, because others see leaders as how they behave or how they use those tools in a leadership style and/or process.

But we all live our lives and perceive surrounding environment only from our internal eyes. Therefore, the focal questions raised in a book are the following:

Do all leaders have the same fears, problems, and difficulties or happiness, pleasure, and delight in being what they are?

What are their feelings when leading people, making decisions, or taking responsibility?

How do they sense and perceive their subordinates?

In a book, those are called internal issues and are dealt with and described through a different approach—an approach that is based on the Far East mentality and shown through Chinese martial arts and Chinese philosophy.

The book has eighteen (18) chapters. Chapters one to five are dedicated to the background setting and the evolution of the story and characters;

Chapters six to nine are devoted to open different approaches and mentality that is coming from Far East and Martial arts philosophy and in parallel gradually introducing difficulties in leadership process and (miss)understanding of those Far East concepts;

Chapter ten a main character is pushed to the limits of solving leadership dilemma and private concerns;

Chapter eleven is dedicated to “open the eyes” about the new concepts;
in a Chapter twelve the foundation of Far East philosophy behind Martial arts is described that would be further on used for the “Leadership by Virtue” principle;

Chapters thirteen to seventeen are telling one by one and thus portraying internal concepts used in Martial arts principles and Eastern philosophy and how to transfer those into (internal) leadership development;

final Chapter eighteen is dedicated to merge those Far East and Martial arts concepts and philosophies with “known” Western ones and thus opening a new entanglement approach proposed with the use of the Leadership by Virtue.

DAILY PROMPT

Sudden Shifts

You’re at the beach with some friends and/or family, enjoying the sun, nibbling on some watermelon. All of a sudden, within seconds, the weather shifts and hale starts descending form the sky. Write a post about what happens next.

Ahh a day at the beach with family and friends. The weather was a perfect eighty nine degrees with a west wind. The wives and mom’s were sitting in their beach chairs with their feet in the water as the kids played with their Dad’s in the surf around them.

The rest of the guys were standing in the water drinking spiked beverages in their cups with straws as they talked guy talk.

Lunch time. The women decided to bring the children up on the warm sand. They dried them off one by one and sat them in a row on the blankets. It’s as if they are baby birds waiting for their moms to fetch them some worms.

Each child gets their choice of either tuna or peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a cool drink. The adults decide it’s time for some more adult fruit punch. Everyone is laughing and just enjoying the perfect day.

I stick my hand in the cooler and grab the container of cut up watermelon. As I  hand each child and adult male a triangle piece with a napkin the sun suddenly decides to hide behind a huge cloud.

I look at the rest of the women and say, “WTF.” The kids don’t care, they just continue eating their melon. Their content as each has the juice of the delectable fruit running down their mouth. The moms on the other hand decide it’s getting a little cool and rummage through their beach bags for cover-ups.

The guys think we are all over reacting. They give us ladies the weather report as they check their cell phones. My hubby says, “It’s just a huge cloud. You ladies need to chill out. The weather station says clear sky’s all day. Give it a few minutes and that cloud will pass.”

As the mom’s clean their children’s faces with baby wipes. We tell each other that the cell phone weather man isn’t always right. We agree that that cloud is about to break open.

Just then the wind picks up. And we each grab a child and huddle under the large umbrella.

The men are laughing at us. That’s when the sky opened up. Now it’s the ladies laughing as the men try to get under the umbrella with us. And for the next ten minutes the rain pours down all around us. Then came the golf ball sized hail that bounced off the umbrella and the sand.

People all over the were running for cover. Our men took video’s of the chaos that was happening all around us up and down the beach.

The kids were all in the safe arms of family and friends as we all huddled together under that extra large umbrella with the blankets wrapped around us all. The same umbrella that non of our men wanted to bring today.

It was fun listening and watching the kids faces. They got a kick out seeing all the people running, grabbing kids, towels and blankets. As we looked around the beach was now deserted. There were coolers, chairs, buckets and remnants of families that were just there a few minutes ago.

We were all warm, dry and making memories that would last us all a lifetime.

Then as fast as the hail wind and rain started it stopped. The dark cloud moved out to sea. The sun came back out and was shining just as brightly as it did before. It was as if nothing had happened. The beach filled up again.

We each ventured out from under that umbrella. I started to laugh as I looked at the men and said. “I bet the next time we say put the umbrella in the SUV we won’t hear a peep out of any of you.” The ladies laughed with me as the men grumbled and took the kids by the hands and headed back to the water.

All in all it was a perfect day at the beach with family and friends.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it…
